Anatomy, Physiology & Massage Courses
ITEC Holistic Massage Diploma Course
 

This massage course, also includes solid grounding in anatomy and physiology and has been developed to teach any aspiring individual the fundamentals of therapeutic bodywork.

It forms the stepping stone and open's the door for many other body work and massage courses.

 
On completion of this massage diploma course you can start your own business by working from a health centre, clinic, home or carry out home visits.
 
MASSAGE COURSE CONTENT & WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
 

The following are a list of some of the topics which are covered in this professional massage course:

  • The basics of Swedish Therapeutic Body Massage, and guidance on how to develop a massage routine for each individual client.
  • Development of a holistic approach - treating the 'mind, body and spirit'.
  • The proper application of massage techniques and use of body posture.
  • The benefits of massage and its contraindications.
  • Identification and location of body surface landmarks - including muscles and bones.

  • Basics of Human Anatomy & Physiology, covering all major systems and their functions:
    • Cell Structure and Skin Cellular Composition
    • Muscular and Skeletal Systems
    • Cardiovascular - Heart and Blood Circulation
    • Lymphatic System - Lymph glands and production of Tissue Fluid
    • Neurological System - Brain and Nervous Tissue
    • Endocrine System - Main endocrine organs and role of hormones
    • Respiratory System - Lungs and air pathways
    • Genito-Urinary System - Kidneys and water metabolism
  • Professionalism, Ethics and Hygiene
  • Setting up in Practice, forms of Marketing and Business Laws
 
MASSAGE COURSE REQUIREMENTS / PREREQUISITES
 
  • No formal training, just an genuine interest in massage, further study and helping people.
  • Home study of 80 hours must be completed.
  • 3 Final Multiple Choice Papers
  • A practical examination lasting 1 hour.
  • Five completed case studies (with minimum of 4 treatments each)

Following successful completion, our students have progressed to go on and:

  • Work in Health Clubs, Hotels, Ski Resorts (abroad), do home visits as well as open their own practice where they treat their own clients
  • go on to study further therapies such as Sports Injuries & Massage, Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy, Osteopathy, Herbal Medicine etc.
  • Supplement their full time income by working part time
  • Help family and friends by providing regular massage treatments
  • Develop their Continual Professional Development (CPD) portfolio
THE EXAMINATION BODY - I.T.E.C.
 

The INTERNATIONAL THERAPY EXAMINATION COUNCIL (I.T.E.C) is an awarding body offering vocational qualifications in Complementary Therapy and Bodywork. ITEC is recognized and regulated by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), and the Department of Education and Employment. ITEC is an independent examining body that offers impartiality and objectivity in its examinations.

ITEC is recognised by insurance companies for professional liability insurance.

Successful completion of this diploma course will provide you with the title of "Massage Therapist", and the knowledge and techniques needed to give a treatment.

Practitioner insurance is also available upon successful completion of the course.
