ITEC Aromatherapy Diploma Course
 
aromatherapy_courses This Aromatherapy course is designed to enable the student to become qualified in Aromatherapy, the art of massage using essential oils.

On completion of this course, students will learn how to combine essential oils and give their clients a safe, beneficial and professional course of aromatherapy treatments.

Students will be able to combine this course with almost any other therapy as well as enhance the level of a treatment by allowing the therapeutic effects of the essential oils to do all the work.
 
COURSE CONTENT & WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
 

The following are a list of some of the topics which are covered on the course:

  • History & development of Aromatherapy
  • Why and how it works
  • Physiological therapeutic effects of essential oils & aromatherapy
  • In depth knowledge of over 40 essential oils
  • How to blend Aromatherapy oils to suit a client
  • Use, care and storage of essential oils
  • A knowledge of carrier oils
  • The holistic approach - treating the whole person
  • Basic knowledge and recognition of skin types
  • Professionalism, Ethics and Hygiene
  • Aromatherapy Massage Routine
  • Exploration of living plants from which aromatherapy oils are made
AROMATHERAPY COURSE REQUIREMENTS
 
  • Students must hold an accredited and approved diploma in Anatomy, Physiology & Massage and Business Theory
  • A final multiple choice exam.
  • A practical examination lasting 1 hour.
  • 10 completed case studies, each with a minimum of 4 treatment

OPPORTUNITIES

Following successful completion, our students have progressed to go on and:

  • Work in Health Clubs, Hotels, Ski Resorts (abroad), do home visits as well as open their own practice where they treat their own clients.
  • Treat clients using aromatherapy massage oils and give advice on use.
  • Go on to study further therapies and courses such as Sports Injuries & Massage, Indian Head Massage, Aromatherapy, Osteopathy, Herbal Medicine etc.
  • Supplement their full time income by working part time.
  • Help family and friends by providing regular massage treatments.
  • Develop their Continual Professional Development (CPD) portfolio.
 
THE EXAMINATION BODY - I.T.E.C.
 

The INTERNATIONAL THERAPY EXAMINATION COUNCIL (I.T.E.C) is an awarding body offering vocational qualifications in Complementary Therapy and Bodywork. ITEC is recognized and regulated by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA), and the Department of Education and Employment. ITEC is an independent examining body that offers impartiality and objectivity in its examinations.

ITEC is recognised by insurance companies for professional liability insurance.

Successful completion of this diploma course will provide you with the title of "Aromatherapist", and the knowledge and techniques needed to give a treatment.

Practitioner insurance is also available upon successful completion of this aromatherapy course.
